Super Green Smoothie Bowl

We are big fans of healthy smoothies – the smoothie bowl takes it to a whole new level of nourishment.  Our good friend and Jan Juc local Kelly Lowden from My Beach Kitchen has shared this perfect post yoga class recipe with us.


2 cups baby spinach

1 frozen banana

½ Lebanese cucumber

1 medjool date (remove the pip!)

5 Brazil nuts or a small handful of raw cashews

2 tbsp. flaked coconut

1 tsp spirulina powder

½ cup almond milk

¾ cup water

½ cup ice


Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, figs, grapes, pomegranate seeds, banana, apple, granola, muesli, passionfruit, kiwi fruit, coconut chips.


Blend up all smoothie ingredients in a high powered blender.  Pour into a bowl and top with fresh fruit, granola or muesli.

Note: If you have not used spirulina powder before, it can smell and look quite strong.  You only need a small amount in your smoothies.  Spirulina is extremely easy for the body to digest and has amazing immune boosting, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties.  In addition to this it is also said to improve your mental capacity, fight cancer and help the body to detox.  The health benefits of spirulina go on and on, making it a great addition to any smoothie you whip up.
